Chess is an activity that stimulates the brain, passes time, and can even be social (and distanced!), creating friendships even when not sitting across the table from each other. Distance between chess players is nothing new – in the last Century people played by mail!
Chess does not even require high tech knowledge (or even Zoom), but can be played at one’s leisure by email.
All it requires is a chess set.
Brent Leonard has offered to coach anyone at any level who wishes to learn this King of Games.
At the kickoff meeting, Brent will help match chess players by their level to play each other.
Not on Zoom? No problem. Brent will coordinate you prior to the 8/24 meeting to find out your skill level to match you with someone else at the meeting.
Once you are matched with a partner, you can coordinate directly with them to play.
We hope that someday we will be able to play face to face – and perhaps even have a tournament!
