Cardio and Strength (Live Fitness Class)
https://nextvillagesf.org/event/cardio-and-strength-live-fitness-class/In this three part series, we will be going over the basics for maintaining physical health and well being. Our main focus areas will include cardio, strength, balance and mobility. These exercise routines can be done in the home or the gym, with minimal equipment required. For example, we will be utilizing chairs and steps to develop leg strength and cardio. We will also use doors and counters to help build balance as well as upper body strength. Each exercise will come with options to male the experience more comfortable or challenging.Tony Jones is a certified personal trainer from the Bay Area. He loves to help his clients develop and maintain long term active lifestyles. He believes that exercise is as much a tool of self empowerment as it is a way to get in shape. He uses different training strategies and styles to help clients build self confidence, resilience, and stay active for life! Before attending the class, please complete the waiver and return it to rsvp@nextvillagesf.org: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dRn3owkvUhQYOOCcT44NV_5uTrgONB0P/view?usp=sharing - 02December 2, 2020

Opportunities for Participation in Stanford's Assistive Technology Course (D2U)
https://nextvillagesf.org/event/opportunities-for-participation-in-stanfords-assistive-technology-course-d2u/Stanford University’s “Perspectives in Assistive Technology” course explores the design, development, and use of assistive technology that benefits people with disabilities and older adults. Online class sessions begin in January with topics ranging from prosthetics and virtual reality to product commercialization and adapted sports. Students in the course select projects to address a challenge experienced by real people with disabilities and older adults.
The course instructor, David L. Jaffe, will describe the course, preview the lecture schedule, and highlight projects from the past two years. In addition, Abby Tamara will provide her perspective as she worked with students on many of these projects. Finally, Dave will invite your participation in class sessions and solicit your suggestions for student projects.
If you’d like to help entrepreneurs in training, come find out how you can pitch a project to students and, if selected, provide valuable input and insight to college students.
